In 1998, pizza delivery man Jarvis Griffin was robbed and murdered. Witnesses pointed the finger at 3 young men, Chris Moore, Nathan Logan and Gabriel Logan. Those 3 would then point the finger at 16 year old Corey Williams. Corey was known as a "chump" who would take the fall for anything. After pressure from investigators Corey would confess despite a lack of physical evidence to connect him. With a DA and a prosecutor out for blood, Williams didn't stand a chance. He was sentenced to death and it would take 20 years for him to see any amount of justice.

2006 was a dark year for New Orleans. But for Addie Hall and Zack Bowen the hurricane would be a chance to find love. Riding out the storm together these two seemed to be living in paradise. When the waters receded, however, it was a different story. Their once happy relationship would become one of unhealthy dependence and anger. They would fight constantly and split up only to reconcile within days. Finally, as Addie had had enough and attempted to kick Zack out of the apartment they shared, Zack would kill her. After almost a week of living with what he had done to his once soulmate, Zack would take his life and lead the police to Addie's body.
