Minnesota: Chisholm and Minneapolis

Hey, hey SoMers! Sorry I thought I had posted this last week but it stayed in my drafts. This week we have traveled to Minnesota.

Amber's Story:

We are hearing more and more about familial DNA helping the police solve cold cases. This week I tell the story of Nancy Daugherty, and how she was raped and murdered in 1986 inside of her own home. The police had DNA evidence from the rape and underneath her finger nails, but the police had no suspects. Just this year with the help of Parabon Labs, the police were able to identify and arrest the man that they suspect killed her.

Celina's Story:

The Minneapolis police department has been in the news a lot lately. As we all know, George Floyd was murdered by the police there this year. It has brought a much needed microscope on many police departments across the nation. George Floyd's murder sadly isn't the only murder completed by the Minneapolis Police. Justine Ruszczyk Damond was being a good neighbor when she called the police after she heard what she thought was someone being sexually assaulted next door. When the police responded, they ended up murdering Justine who was in bare feet and her nightgown.
