South Dakota: Pierre and Sioux Falls

Amber's story:

Brad and Tami Reay were introduced to each other by Tami's sister. They quickly started dating and got married. They both appeared to be very happy and soon Tami got pregnant with her daughter Haylee. It was everything that Tami wanted. After 14 years of marriage, Brad got a new job and the family had to move from Lander, Wyoming to Pierre South Dakota. After a year there Tami was working and had started making friends.

Over Christmas 2005, Tami shared with her family that she was planning on divorcing Brad and that she was getting a full time job. Tami shared that she hadn't been happy for awhile and she had made a new good friend named Brian. Her family was supportive about this and Tami talked with her family everyday when she returned to Pierre.

On February 8, 2006, Tami's family got worried that she hadn't called for usual daily chat. Her sister started making calls trying to figure out where she was.

Celina's Story:

We started the discussion in Idaho about familial DNA and its use over the past couple of years to catch criminals such as the Golden State Killer. Well we have another case this week that uses that same technology. On February 28, 1981, Lee Litz was driving down the road and noticed something on the side. It looked like blood, when he went to investigate he found a new born baby that had sadly died from exposure. He named the baby Andrew and the town showed up for Baby Andrew's funeral. The police tried to find Andrew's mother and figure out why she would leave him out in the cold. It would take 38 years to find out that answer and the use of familial DNA.
